Gold Cura Sterilization Reels are cut-to-size paper-and-transparent-film pouch rolls designed for packaging reusable dental instruments before sterilization.

Important: These reels are not self-sealing. After cutting the required pouch length, both open ends must be securely closed using a compatible heat-sealing machine.

Each 200-metre roll allows dental clinics to prepare pouches according to the length of their instruments, helping reduce wastage compared with using only fixed-size sterilization pouches.

The transparent film makes the packaged instruments easy to identify, while the paper side allows penetration of the sterilizing agent during a compatible sterilization cycle. Once correctly heat-sealed, processed, dried and stored, the packaging helps protect instruments from contamination until the pouch is opened for use.

How to Select the Correct Width

55 mm Reel

Suitable for narrow instruments and small individual items that fit comfortably within the pouch without stressing the seals.

Always select a reel wide enough to accommodate the instrument without forcing it against the paper, film or sealed edges.

How to Use — Sealing Machine Required

1. Clean, rinse and thoroughly dry the reusable instruments before packaging.
2. Select the appropriate reel width for the instrument.
3. Cut the reel to the required length, leaving sufficient extra space at both ends for proper sealing.
4. Place one open end into a compatible heat-sealing machine and create a complete, even seal.
5. Allow the first seal to cool briefly, then place the clean and dry instrument inside without overfilling the pouch.
6. Add an appropriate internal chemical indicator when required by the clinic’s sterilization protocol.
7. Place the remaining open end into the sealing machine and heat-seal it completely.
8. Inspect both seals. They should be continuous, even and free from gaps, folds, wrinkles or burns.
9. Label the pouch according to the clinic’s instrument-processing protocol.
10. Process the sealed pouch using a compatible sterilization cycle and follow the instructions supplied with the sterilizer, instrument, sealing machine and packaging material.
11. Allow the pouch to cool and dry completely before handling or storage.
12. Inspect the pouch, both heat seals and the process indicators before storing or opening it for clinical use.

Do not attempt to use the reel without sealing both ends with a suitable sealing machine.

Important Information About Sterilization Indicators

The printed chemical indicators help show that the pouch has been exposed to specified sterilization-process conditions.

A colour change does not independently confirm sterility and does not replace:

• Internal chemical indicators
• Mechanical cycle monitoring
• Periodic biological or spore testing
• Proper cleaning and drying of instruments
• Correct sterilizer loading
• Following the sterilizer manufacturer’s instructions

Do not use instruments from a pack when the required indicator change has not occurred or when the sterilization cycle has failed.

Packaging and Storage Instructions

• Package only instruments that have been properly cleaned and completely dried.
• Use a compatible sealing machine and follow its recommended operating settings.
• Do not overfill the pouch.
• Keep instruments away from the heat-sealed edges.
